Blessed by our mentors....

Yesterday we were able to get to see our mentors from Gospel for Asia, Eric and Beth! What a blessing to see them and get to spend time with them and their kids. It was a huge encouragement for me as Beth was able to share something that God put on her heart from Revolution in World Missions to share with us (this is the book written by K.P. Yohannan, the president and founder of GFA - please read this book, you can get it free at www.gfa.org. It will change your life as it did ours!). What Beth read was exactly what I needed to hear - awesome how our God does that! Being with them just made us want to get to GFA quicker but I am learning that God has the perfect time for when we will go and I am trusting in Him for that! Eric and Beth, we love you so much!! We can't wait to be near you and be able to share our lives more closely with you! You are such and incredible and amazing blessing to us!

A walk in the park...

We love just being able to spend time as a family. With me working part-time now, it has been so much fun to get to be able to enjoy more of these special times. One of the things we love to do is go for walks and we especially like to walk and feed the geese that make their home at the ponds in our neighborhood and just enjoy God's creation. I love the fact that we don't have to do things that are expensive or always on the go and our kids are happy and just love enjoying the time together. I encourage you to take some time out of your busy schedule and just enjoy the blessing of time together whether it is going for a walk, a bike ride, or just curling up on the couch and watching a family movie. Theses are the times that I will treasure most!

Northwood Picnics...

The end of the year always offers some great times at school for fun and the picnic at the end of the year in no exception!! Love seeing the kids with their friends having a great time. What a blessing to be part of the Northwood family!

First it was Kira's turn...

Then Andrew's turn....

What a great time to just relax and enjoy friends and the beautiful weather God gave us both of the days! We will definitely miss you Northwood Academy but are excited about what God has in store for us next!

He's in charge of the whole universe!!!

I was having a tough week this week and asked Andrew to pray for me. Well, he took my hand and led me to the couch and sat down to pray! Part of his prayer was "God, we know you are in charge of the whole universe, so we know you are in charge of us and our support-raising". WOW, I felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks. God knew what I needed to hear and He allowed me to hear it through my 9 year old son! What a blessed reminder to know that the God that is in charge of the whole universe is in charge of me and cares for the things I care for! Thank you Jesus for allowing my son to remind me of a very important truth and thank you for loving and caring for your children!!

While I'm waiting....

The lyrics of this song as well as a very special Bible verse are the things I am clinging to during tough times while we wait for the Lord's timing. I hope they can encourage you as much as they have encouraged me!

While I'm Waiting by John Waller
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord

Psalm 37:4-6

Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

More fun with baseball

Andrew loves baseball and loves playing, just in case you couldn't figure that out with our previous posts :)
The other day he got to be catcher - well he loves it and did so well!! We are so proud of him and how he did. Here are some fun photos of that day!!

On first base and ready to run...
And he's off
Catching a tough pitch in the dirt
Jumping for a wild pitch - what was neat is that the "ump" was super encouraging to him and told him thank you many times for "saving him" :)

Batting Cages and lessons learned...

A couple of weeks ago we got to take Andrew to the batting cages to practice his hitting. Unfortunately this year, his catching and fielding are doing great but he has struggled to get a hit. We have told him to pray and ask Jesus to help him and he has. The other night after not getting a hit, he asked me why God makes us wait sometimes? Umm, excellent question my son! I told him sometimes we don't know the answer but we need to wait and God will answer in His timing. Sometimes it is just to grow us and see if we will be faithful to continue to trust and ask Him for things in our lives. In the meantime in the spirit of the movie of "Facing the Giants" (one of Andrew's favorites) we have resolved to give God the praise and glory. "When we win (or get a hit) we'll praise Him and when we lose (or strike out) we'll praise Him.
This made me think about our time with support raising as well. We are called and God has confirmed that to us but we are in the waiting and raising support process right now and it's not always easy. We have seen God do great and mighty things but there are days of discouragement as well. We know God is faithful and in his time we will go and be used in full-time ministry/missions for Him!! Whether we go tomorrow or we go in a year, we will praise Him!!

Yes, he has a great swing but we see lessons of faith and waiting being grown in our son.
And even I got into it a little bit :)
And then my amazing and incredibly strong hubby even hit a few too

Kira did not hit in the cages and our sweet little girl never once complained about not having anything to do - she just sat patiently waiting so for a special treat on the way home, Kira got to get a happy meal - just her!! She was so surprised and excited and we told her she was rewarded because she put others first and not herself and not grudgingly either!!
I truly thank God for lessons in my kids (and our own) lives to grow them and mature them into the amazing people He wants them (and us) to be!!
